‘Why do you have a moustache?’ ‘So much weight gain? Who will marry you’....these are some questions most women having PCOS often hear from people. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome commonly known as PCOS has literally become a household name. It’s actually a medical condition but the symptoms visible to people sometimes draws unnecessary and unthoughtful comments.

People always have this amazing philosophy too for all things happening in our life! Some of them will tell you all the reasons why you have PCOS (they are ‘know-it-all’). On our Instagram channel we keep covering these situations via our carousels and for today’s Insta Buzz, let’s deep dive into 5 comments women hear when it comes to PCOS in india

1. You have PCOS because you are lazy.

You have PCOS because you are laz

Yeah right! Instead of being compassionate if this is what they have to say then hats off to the person! Having a sedentary lifestyle can lead to health issues but just because a woman has PCOS, concluding that she has it because she is lazy is absurd. Ask that person to try telling this to a gynaecologist next time they see one. The doctor will surely have a field day listening to something so out of the blue.

2. Getting married will solve all your PCOS problems.

Getting married will solve all your PCOS problems

Evergreen mantra, marriage is the solution for all problems. ‘Beta shaadi kar le, sab theek ho jaayega!’ If someone has PCOS they need to work on regulating their lifestyle and follow the doctor’s advice. How is getting married even related to PCOS? Marriage is not a one stop solution for everything!

3. You have PCOS because you eat junk food.

You have PCOS because you eat junk food

Well, eating junk food regularly can lead to digestive problems or some other health issues but which research says it leads to PCOS? Definitely one should avoid regular consumption of junk food but eating it once a while is okay, right?

4. There is nothing like PCOS, it's all in your head.

There is nothing like PCOS, it's all in your head

ROFL! This is surely classic. So, whatever someone doesn’t have an answer for, it actually doesn't exist? Amazing way to avoid a problem. A woman who has PCOS is already dealing with its symptoms. If you can’t help her, at least don’t mock her by saying that the problem is imaginary.

5. Don't tell anyone you have PCOS, otherwise how will you get married?

Don't tell anyone you have PCOS, otherwise how will you get married?

The ultimate goal of life: MARRIAGE! PCOS is just a normal medical condition and it’s actually quite common too, most people already know about it. Isn’t marriage something that should be based on truth? Why will a prospective groom or his family have an issue with it? What if a woman gets diagnosed with PCOS after marriage? Should she get divorced then? If you have got no answers to these questions, then stop linking everything to marriage.
