Insta BUZZ: Dear Women Stop Feeling Guilty About These Things

Society has unrealistic and bizarre expectations from people, especially and supposedly only women! Whatever we do is always less and never enough. Really? Women put in their bodies, mind, heart and soul to fulfil the needs of their families and that is also not enough. What else do you want? This leads to them feeling guilty about what they do and of course, they don’t deserve the feeling of guilt in return for what they do for everyone. From the things like eating food in a certain way to shaming them about their weight, body hair and stretch marks, this irrational list goes on and on!
We, at Girls Buzz, always try to break these conventions set by society towards women. One such topic we are covering today on Insta BUZZ is making a woman’s life more difficult than it already is the things women feel guilty about and of course they shouldn’t! Here’s our take on it!
Eating what you like rather than what others like to eat:
“Oh, I won’t cook this vegetable, my husband doesn’t like it. It’s too much work for just one person.” We all have said or heard something like this at one point. But the question is, why? Why can women not eat what they like? Why do they have to live under the constant pressure of their families who get to decide what she eats or not? Girls, just eat what you want!
Taking a nap in the afternoon or taking a break from household work:
Women are also human, after all! Why is there a stigma around women taking a nap in the afternoon and taking some rest from the household chores? They are not robots, right? Everyone needs rest to function properly! If the men of the house can, then, why not women? They practically are one of the first members of the family to wake up in the morning, make food, and send everyone off to work! They need some rest!
Prioritizing others over yourself:
Girls, please! That is the last thing you want to do! “I shall not do this because my husband won’t like it.” “I shall not wear this, my MIL won’t like it.” Really? Why? Never feel guilty about thinking about yourself first and then about others, even if it’s your family!
Not being able to fulfil the role of the perfect wife, daughter, DIL, or mother:
Repeat as we say! ‘You are enough!’ Nobody is perfect, be it a man or a woman. Stop feeling guilty about not being perfect. The world will have unrealistic expectations from you and it’s not your responsibility to fulfil each of them. You are doing the best that you can and that is enough.
The number on the weighing scale:
The ideal zero figure is a myth! Let that sink in! Each body is different and beautiful! You don’t have to worry about a little difference in your weight here and there. It’s completely okay in wanting to lose weight if it’s affecting your health in any way but just to match the bizarre beauty standards set by society, it’s horrendous! Eat that slice of cake, without having to worry about anything!
Hair or marks on your body, stretch marks are beautiful, too:
Hair is one of the most natural things you can have on your body. It’s completely okay to have them and at the end of the day, it’s your choice to remove them or not! Nobody can decide that for you! If men can have their body hair proudly, then so can we. One woman once said that the stretch marks that she has makes her feel like a tigress with strips and we cannot forget that!
Taking time out for self-care:
Self-care is not selfish! Stop feeling bad about taking some time out of your busy and hectic day for yourself. After all, you deserve it. Don’t let the comments or the judgements of society take your self-care time away from you.
Choosing to have or not have children:
Having children is not the end goal of a marriage! Always remember that! After all, it’s you who will carry a baby and, only you get to choose if you want to have children or not! We understand that it can be a big step for society, but don’t let any of it get in the way of your choices!
