Red, Blue, Green, Pink, Yellow, Purple…… HOLI, the festival of colours is here! Beautiful organic colours all over your face and you trying to get your friend covered so that they look just like you, COLOURFUL, is what we all love about Holi. But when it comes to hosting a holi party, you might have shortlisted the best sweets and drinks like Chandrakala, Gujiya, Lassi, Thandai (be careful of bhaang one!) and a lot more. What we often overlook is the savoury snacks. The fun on holi is missing without some spicy chaat to spruce up your party. If you are panicking how to work on it last minute, fret not! Here’s a quick recipe that won’t take more than 10 minutes and your delicious delicacy of spicy corn chaat would be ready!

Serves: 4 (You can multiply the ingredients as per the requirement)

Ingredients

Boiled Sweet Corn Kernels - 2 Cups (Grab the frozen corn packet from market if you don’t have time to get some fresh corn ready)

Finely chopped onion- 1

Finely chopped tomato- 1

Green chilli chopped- 1 (avoid it if you have children in your party)

Chaat masala powder- ½ tsp (tweak it as per your taste)

Red Chilli Powder- ¼ tsp

Black Pepper Powder- ¼ tsp

Salt- to taste

Powdered sugar- ½ tsp

Lemon juice- 1 ½ tsp

Butter- 2 tsp 

A handful of roasted peanuts for topping

Bhujia sev for garnish

Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Recipe

  1. Take a pan and on medium flame, toss the corn in the butter for 3-4 minutes.
  2. Once your corn is well coated in butter, take it out in a bowl and add in the spices and give it a good toss.
  3. Add the chopped onion, tomato and green chilli.
  4. Finally add the lemon juice and garnish your corn chaat with roasted peanuts, bhujia sev and fresh coriander leaves.

Viola! Your chaat is ready already. Just some chopping needed and you can get things rolling!
