From A Corporate Job to An Entrepreneur: Meet Prachi Bothra, the Founder of Sundarlysh

Over the last decade, the way people work has changed. We’ve seen many people quitting their full time jobs to pursue something that they are truly passionate about. Because honestly there’s no point being somewhere or doing something that one does not resonate with. Besides, the amount of satisfaction that one gets by doing something that they love is unparalleled to anything. But the transition from moving on from a secure well paying job to a passion project which may or may not do well isn’t always easy. And taking that first step towards your dreams needs a lot of courage. 

Here’s one such inspirational story of a woman who took a leap of faith & who gave up a comfortable corporate career to pursue her dreams and be her own boss. Meet Prachi Bothra, the founder entrepreneur of Sundarlysh.

How did you come up with your business idea - Sundarlysh? 

Sundarlysh is a one-stop brand for all.  And our motto is to “Care with Style”.  I always want to start something on my own, so when I decided to quit my job and start my business, I made a plan to start a business that catered to all kinds of people & all kinds of needs - skin care, jewellery,  home décor and gifts for special occasions. When I had the plan in place, I went on to educate myself about organic skincare products, the lifestyle market, fashion accessories and more. Once I had the required knowledge in place, I started my business.

Above all, I love doing creative things and love making something unique and colorful. Which is why I started the brand and now sell everything from customized gift hampers, to jewellery, organic cosmetic products and more.

What were you doing before this, and is this your first business? How has the transition been?

I was working in the corporate world and I have nearly 10 years of work experience. And yes, this is my first business.The transition was not at all easy and smooth. It was very challenging & difficult but in the end all worth it! Had I not made the transition, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

How has your experience in running the business been different from what you expected?

Hmm, expectation was totally different. At this stage especially during the pandemic, business has been hard. The most challenging part is getting orders and funding the business.

Which marketing techniques do you use to promote your products and which out of those have really helped you grow your business?

Currently I am promoting my business through Instagram, Facebook and personal references/contacts.The most useful so far has been Instagram. The app is a beautiful visual platform where I can showcase my products in the best way possible and it has helped me get a lot of loyal customers.

What does your typical day look like?

Currently, most of my day will pass by hunting for orders ☺, doing creative photo shoots for my products & posting them on social media.

Any new collections or products in the pipeline that our readers should be excited about? Can we get a sneak peek? 

Yes, there are many exciting things lined up in the coming future! Sundarlysh will be introducing stylish outfits soon and we will be launching new home décor and jewellery collections as well.

What is the number 1 business goal that you plan to accomplish over the next year?

To become one of the best brands for women with the best collections available at super customer friendly prices.  According to me, having the best collections with the most unique and creative products which are of top quality is important. And I also take utmost care in making each of my clients feel special and that is something I wish to continue doing for my business.

Do you have any advice for young women who would like to become entrepreneurs?

Indeed, with my experience I would like to share the following message to all budding entrepreneurs - Dear all, listen to your heart! Live for yourself because your individual identity and success is the most important part ever in your life. It will provide respect, love, success, financial freedom and happiness. :)
