The tips are very practical and doable to follow on a regular basis. Give it a read and follow them consistently to leverage their health benefits.
A whopping 82% of people make resolutions for their good health every year as per research. Why is year-end the time when suddenly everyone becomes cautious of their health? And why it is for a particular year? A year won’t last forever, right? Speaking of things that last forever, you know what lasts forever? Our health. Good health or bad health depends on us.
Health should not be valued only at times of sickness or new year resolutions or a pandemic. Your health is your most precious gift and to sustain that gift should be your primary responsibility all your life. Good health is a result of following a healthy lifestyle and few disciplinary habits consistently. Consistency is a rhythm you can achieve without compromising output or burning out. Here are tips you can follow on a daily basis that will keep you fit for not just 2022 but as long as you keep following them. I am going to categorize it in mental and physical health for better readability.
For your Mental Health
1. Practice Writing
I believe, your mental health is the foundation stone behind your physical health. It is your inner world that affects, designs, and controls your outer world. Therefore, the very first tip is concerning it.
Women are known to be overly emotional, sensitive, and expressive. And let’s face it we are truly all of that, but we are strong than our any other quality. Not all are fortunate to have that someone in their life with whom they can share everything and anything they feel. Not everybody has that someone to share their vulnerable side with. One in four American women dies due to a heart attack.
It is not always that you don’t have anybody to share your everything with. Sometimes, time, circumstances, and a lot of other factors just don’t allow us to do that. It is immensely important to address the emotion in your heart and not to suppress it.
The easiest solution to this is to write in your diary. I am not asking you to journalise every day or be consistent with your schedule of it. No! Just when you feel an urge to get something out of your system, WRITE. You will feel so much better mentally and emotionally. Try it once just and discover its power of it. You will be certainly amazed.
2. Take Timely Vacations
Travelling and taking time offs from our hectic work lives is a game-changer. When you come back after a good relaxation, recharge, and spending quality time with your loved ones; your productivity levels and creativity levels get a robust boost.
Vacations at new places or your all-time favourite places provide enriching experiences to your mind, body, and, soul. The synchronization between these three and your overall health shall recharge. In the times we live in today, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of this ritual. Make a resolution to go for timely vacations and offs as and when works for you.
3. Do Absolutely Nothing for 30 Minutes Every Day
Doing nothing includes not using your cell phone or any other screen time as well. Not talking to someone you love dearly, your friends, family, or partners. Keep this 30 minutes to yourself and maybe nature, or just talking yourself in your head sitting in the favourite corner of your home having your special tea or coffee.
A bonus tip here is doing positive self-talk in these 30 minutes. Think good, speak good, manifest good for yourselves in these 30 minutes. Make it an unbreakable ritual and just be consistent blindly. Acknowledge your every emotion and let your soul feel it. The change will be visible to you shortly after you begin with this ritual.
4. Read a Self-Help Book
Don’t make a resolution for a definite number of books but certainly to read one or listen to the podcasts on similar subjects. Self-help books and podcasts provide an unmatchable clarity to your mind.
It brings you the answers and solutions to many problems of your life and a roadmap to the direction you wish to drive your life. There is so much to learn and reading books is a beautiful way of learning.
5. Monitor What You Consume on Digital Platforms
It is not only the social media platforms I am talking about here but any form of content that you consume. The web series, movie, or sitcom. I personally feel the content that is available over various platforms on the internet can be too overwhelming for many.
Be very thoughtful and choosy of what you consume as an audience of a huge number of content options. Only consume what brings you entertainment, joy, purpose, and, value. Something too overwhelming can trigger the emotions you were not ready for. Do not fall prey to the content that makes you sad, or unhappy even for a while. The negative patterns form that way and then are hard to break.
For your Physical Health
1. Eat Dinner before 7:30 PM
This is not a diet. This is a timed approach to eating your food. This is not intermittent fasting either. This is just a unanimous approach to eating dinner for a healthy life.
As per Ayurveda, the digestion cycle of the body gets weakened with the sunset. As per the modern health coaches & nutritionists, it is good to have a window of 14 hours between your breakfast and dinner. Thus, having dinner before 7:30 PM is like the best of both worlds. It yields you a bunch of health benefits.
2. Spend 20 Minutes of your Day Soaking the Sun
Well, don’t forget to put on sunscreen though! At least with SPF 15. Sunshine is a natural and free medicine accessible to all. The benefits of sunshine for your body are multiple. It improves your mood, bones density, sleep, lowers your stress, strengthens your immune system and exponentially contributes to the longevity of your life.
A study that followed 30,000 Swedish women revealed that those who spent more time in the sun lived six months to two years longer than those with less sun exposure.
There is a myth that it is the morning sun that is the most suitable. The truth is it is the midday sun that is ideal for receiving all the health benefits. However, don’t sit for too long after 30 minutes.
3. Stretching
Stretching exercises keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy. We require the flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints. The lack or absence of stretching exercising would lead to tightness in the muscles. This issue puts you at the risk of joint pains, strains, and, muscle damage. Healthy muscles also help a person with balance problems to avoid falls.
4. Eat Everything Seasonal
Seasonal fruits and vegetables have the highest amount of nutrition, antioxidants, and, phytonutrients. Also, a pro tip is to eat them raw as much as possible and not in form of juices or processed dish, to retain their nutritional value. Other benefits of eating seasonal food are it is cheaper, fresher, tastes better, and, supports your body’s natural nutritional needs. Consuming seasonal foods will greatly better your hair, skin, and metabolic health too.
5. Any Physical Activity for 40 Minutes
It does not have to be cardio or physical activity. It can be a game you love, a new dance form you want to learn, or merely brisk walking. As long as you actively move your body for that 40 minutes it is perfectly fine. It is up to you if you spend it at a gym or in the pool. Whatever makes you happy!
Conclusion:
It all comes down to how you feel and what makes you happy or feel better. While making your health better, do not punish it, torture it or make it unhappy. Enjoy the process of grooming it and maintaining it and it will all be well always.
Above every tip lies the tip to follow all the precautions and norms pertaining to COVID as it’s still not over. Let us all resolve to celebrate life and ensure that we have happy and healthy mental and physical health.
