“Why don’t you just get married?”, We have all been there! This is a constant statement we all tell our best friends countless times. The excitement of your bestie getting married is unparalleled. Let me tell you a secret. The excitement is not about her getting married; the actual excitement is to become a bridesmaid! And Congratulations if your wish of becoming one has come true! Being a bridesmaid is one unpaid job (ahem, ahem) you cannot and do not want to get rid of, lol! From taking care of the bride to being a point of contact, a bridesmaid plays many roles. If you are nervous about these bridesmaids' responsibilities too, don’t worry, we have got you covered! Let’s get your bridesmaids' duties on point.

Be there for the bride at every point:

This goes without saying, lol! A bridesmaid is a bride’s personal assistant on her big day. The bride needs a tissue; keep it handy; the bride needs to freshen up; be there to hold her lehenga! Keep an emergency kit with all the stuff the bride may need with you at all times. The bride may also want to have you by her side to listen to all the gossip she has, lol!

Plan a bachelorette party for the bride:

Who would know the bride better than her bridesmaids? Amidst all the wedding preparations and stress, the bride will genuinely want an evening where she can freely celebrate her life before becoming a missus. Pool in all your ideas, buy all the stuff you need, select a venue and decide the theme of the bachelorette party. Play games, dance, have drinks and let the bride have the time of her life!

Click a lot of pictures of the bride and groom:

When we ask you to capture a lot of behind the scene and pictures of the bride and groom, we mean A LOT! The bride will love you even more after you do this. Right after she is free from all her wedding ceremonies, she would definitely want to look at all her pictures. Getting professional photographs developed by the photographer will take some time, so keep the bride happy with the moments you capture.

DANCE, DANCE AND DANCE:

Who is responsible for setting the stage up on fire? Obviously, banno ki saheliyan!  How can you girls leave the dance floor empty? Your feet may fall off from the pain, but you cannot stop dancing. Gather people on the dance floor and dance your heart out. Practice your special performances beforehand and make your bestie’s big day even more special.

Look your best:

Take your fashion quotient to another level; after all, it is your best friends’ shaadi! Decide what you are going to wear for all the functions, or do you want to colour-coordinate with other bridesmaids? Try not to match the colour of your outfits with that of the bride as it’s her day and she should be the centre of attention. Try your outfits a week before all the functions and see if everything fits perfectly. Keep matching accessories handy, too, to avoid any last-minute hassles.

Check if everything is in place:

The bride and groom may have an event organiser and the host taking care of all the technicalities. But you, as a bridesmaid, need to step in and check if everything is working in order. Make sure you have the sequence of events and dance performances; make sure the DJ plays the correct song when the bride enters. Taking care of all these things can also be a part of your responsibilities.

Feed the bride and keep her hydrated:

Amidst all the functions and everything around her, the bride tends to overlook her meals. Make sure that the bride at least has something to munch on. Keep a bottle of water with the bride at all times, and make sure she is hydrated well. Another person you would want to take care of is the mother of the bride.
