You don't need to spend hours in front of the mirror to achieve flawless makeup. There are a variety of small tactics you may employ to make applying makeup much easier and to ensure that you always achieve the desired look.
Consider giving in now if you've managed to resist installing TikTok all this time. TikTok, which is designed for short videos, has been a goldmine for hacks of all kinds in 2021, especially when it comes to beauty. We all enjoy a dramatic makeup look once a while, but we're always looking for methods to streamline our routines — even if it's only to pass the time by learning something new.
Whether it was the subtle korean glass skin makeup look that was going viral or the over the top makeup looks with shocking layers of foundation and concealer- makeup hacks were all the rage. While many hacks were just for fun and don’t really contribute much to your look, there were some hacks that were surprisingly on point and sworn by many.
Today, we have listed some beauty hacks that actually work wonders!
Using tape for eyeliner
People who flawlessly draw their eyeliners in a single stroke are honestly blessed by makeup gods. But for people like me who struggle to draw their eyeliners evenly, the tape hack can be a life and time savior. The hack simply includes using basic sellotape/paper tape along the eye line and then following it properly using eye liner. You can also outline your eyes in a winged shape using tape. Once you are done filling in the wing, just get rid of the tape to get the perfect look!
Blush placement
Blush has always been the top tier product that brings a makeup look together. Using blush not only gives your face a hint of color but also makes your skin look healthy from within. Traditionally, blush was applied on the apple of the cheeks for a fuller look. However, as more and more people are preferring the sculpted and lifting makeup look, placing the blush correctly plays a major role in doing so. To achieve this lifted look, applying blush on the high points of your face instead of the cheeks, does the trick. Applying blush on the cheek bones and high points of your temple will give the perfect lift for your sculpted makeup look.
However, for people who want a more natural and sun kissed effect, blush can be applied in a C shape from your nose to the cheek bones and finally the forehead. Personally, cream blushes are my absolute favorite. Using your favorite cream lipsticks as blush is also a hack that works wonders. A simple trick is to take some lipstick on the back of your thumb, warm it up and then apply it evenly. Using the same shade for your lips can also compliment the blush beautifully.
Concealer Trick
Concealer is probably my most favorite step in my makeup routine. Initially, following the many makeup videos I used to watch on youtube, I applied concealer in the popular triangle style. Concealer was also the step that went after the foundation. However, more recently, I have discovered that applying concealer first and in lesser quantity can do wonders for the makeup look. Instead of applying a lot of concealer in a triangle shape under the eye, try applying it in the inner and outer corner of the eye.
For the outer corner, you just need to apply concealer like you apply your eyeliner (upwards and winged). This trick gives a subtle lift to the eye that looks clean and sharp. As for the inner corner, a thin layer blended perfectly does the job.
Applying foundation after concealer gives a more natural and finished look. I always dampen my beauty blender to get the perfect base.
Silicone sponge for flawless French Tips
You know the drill: producing immaculate French tips on one hand is always simpler than on the other, leaving you with a manicure that you adore 50% of the time and want to hide 50% of the time. That is, until we came across this viral TikTok hack, which shows that getting a perfect finish every time is doable. A silicone sponge is used for the trick. Apply your white nail paint to your silicone sponge (it must be silicone to apply cleanly), then press your nail into the polish to make a line on the end of your nail. Who knew you could get salon-quality French advice from the comfort of your own home?
Soap Brows
Each season calls for a new and surprising brow hack. This time, it is the soap bros. Fluffy, natural-looking brows are currently in style. TikTok beauty gurus recommend the soap brows technique to achieve this.
While there are soap brow products available, you don't need anything fancy to achieve the look - a regular bar of soap and a spoolie will suffice.
To make a paste, spritz your bar soap or soap brows product with water and rub the spoolie directly on it. For your brow hair, this serves as a gel. Apply the product to the brows while it's still wet and brush them in with the spoolie. Allow the product to dry for a few minutes and enjoy the fluffy brow look!
Moisturizer for glowy base
Doing your skin care before applying makeup is the most basic and important step of the routine. While there are a number of skin care products that just sit perfectly before your base, we have a simpler and cheaper trick for you.
Applying moisturizer on damp face is a game changer. Make sure your face is slightly damp. Take the regular amount of moisturizer and massage it in for a more hydrated and glowy skin. Applying makeup on top of this will give you a glowy and overall healthy look.
Using eyeshadow as eye- liner
What is the point of spending dollars on eye shadow palettes if you can not use them to the fullest right?
This is an excellent way to make your eye makeup multifunctional. To begin, dampen your angled eyeliner brush and dip it into the eyeshadow , then simply line your eyelids! This is great for dark brown or black eyeshadow as an easy alternative to black liquid liner, and it's also great for bright coloured eyeshadows if you want a pop of color as an eyeliner. Another tip is to scrape a small amount of powder from the top of the eyeshadow onto a dish, add a drop of mixing medium or water, and mix until you have a paste - voila! You've got your own eyeliner formula.

Dramatic lashes
Ever wondered how to obtain longer, fuller and clump-free lashes? We saved you a hack from the infamous - TikTok (obviously)
Here’s the trick: Instead of applying mascara to the base of your lashes, concentrate on the tips only.
Curling your lashes twice, adding two coats of mascara, and using a waterproof mascara is the way to go. Your lashes will stay curled for longer, have fewer clumps, and appear longer overall!
Dry Shampoo but *before*
Dry shampoo is a wonderful hair miracle, especially for people with greasy hair. We always run to our favorite bottle when we have an important event to attend and our hairjust don’t cooperate.
Rather than waiting for the dry shampoo to save your hair from the grease, apply it right after you wash it to add volume and keep the greasies at bay.
Microfibre towels do the trick
Frizzy hair really takes away that healthy look our hair otherwise has. Apart from washing your hair 2-3 times a week and using rich oils and hair masks, a simple way to keep frizzy hair away is paying attention to the towels you use to dry your hair.
This is a no-brainer: throw away those scratchy towels! Their fibers create far too much friction, regardless of how gently you profess to be using them, resulting in more split ends. Dry your hair with a microfiber towel or a cotton t-shirt, especially if you have textured, curly, or wavy hair.
