IPL 2023 is the heat of the moment! Well, if that good news isn’t enough for all the cricket lovers, we have more! India’s first blind women’s cricket team is all set to make its debut in the T20 bilateral series. The formation of the women's team is a significant step forward for blind cricket in India and provides an opportunity for women with visual impairments to participate in a team sport at a competitive level. The CABI has expressed its commitment to promoting women's blind cricket in India and hopes to form more women's teams.

Every Indian chest is going to be wide with pride on 25th April as Indian cricket is going to achieve another glorious milestone! Years and years of hard work and dreams are finally going to become a reality. The 17-member team is going to take on Nepal for their first international match. 

 

Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) finalised the bilateral series to take place from 25th April 2023 to 30th April 2023. This initiative by CABI and Samarthanam Trust is encouraging to see that steps are being taken to promote gender equality in sports, and the formation of the women's blind cricket team in India is a positive step in this direction.

India’s cricket team captain, Ms Harmanpreet Kaur is appointed as the brand ambassador of the Blind Women’s T20 cricket series, says, “Cricket knows no boundaries. The Captain of the team, Ms Sushma Patel, reveals how the people of her village call it luck as she becomes the captain. She adds to prove them wrong through her hard work and not luck by winning the series.

 

We stand proud as this sport not only provides an opportunity for visually impaired women to engage in physical activity and compete but also helps in building confidence and self-esteem.
